Within twenty minutes of each other tonight ...
We're watching Stranger Than Fiction, in which Emma Thompson's character describes something as "simple, ironic, and possibly heartbreaking." Not a bad candidate for five-word description of life.
And also ...
Bruce Springsteen opens his show in Atlanta with "Reason To Believe" followed by "Out In The Street". I seriously doubt this pair has even been, uh, paired. Springsteen has dealt with these types of things for about 30 years now, but I'm not sure any artist could come up with a better two-song portrait of life's fundamental existential hurdle along with the fundamental desire to not let it drive you batshit crazy.
