A little silver lining to the in-party storms ... in a discussion dominated by percentages of this and percentages of that, it's a comfort to remember that in raw terms of registered Democrats, the pie is getting bigger. A lot bigger. One million new voters over the last seven primaries. I think you have to give some credit to both candidates for that, along with President Bush. Not necessarily in that order.
Today's bout of serendipity was seeing the top two items in my Other Bloggy Goodness section mere minutes apart. Seeing a performer who can sing and mix in the same performance raises my opinion of her, for sure. Looping can pen you into a certain kind of composition in terms of chord sequence, which is a moderate negative for me, but as a once in a while thing (and especially if you have a noteworthy voice that can compensate for those structural limitations, like she does), it's a quite impressive novelty.
"Has anyone ever referred to torture as punishment? I don't think so." I'm surprised Justice Scalia overlooked what I think is the best line of argument here: if you simply torture enough, then it can't be "unusual" now, can it?
